So over the weekend I worked the Little Italy Art Walk as a volunteer for Broadway San Diego. Well to better classify it was I volunteer but force rather than choice. My Theatre 345 class requires 15 hours of internship hours with Broadway San Diego during the semester, which I could care less about since I already have an internship with Qualcomm and I don't expect to go into theatre marketing anytime soon...but it was fun to hang out in Little Italy for both days and Alex, the guy from BroadwaySD, was really chill and let us see the art walk instead of keeping us at the both the whole time. With the heat wave that hit San Diego it made day 2 a little unbearable. Though I think the booths across the street from us would have gladly taken the heat compared to what happened to them. Around 3 o'clock on Sunday a water main broke and flooded a good portion of the art walk including the other side of the street from our booth. We were fine but some of the artist on other streets had flood sales since you had to wade through 4-6 inches of water to get to their booths. So take away the heat and the sun and you had nothing but good times with Kashi, Zone Perfect, and Geico giving out free stuff. Heck I even bought some artwork!

Tired of High Gas Prices?
Get a Po-Go Stick!
In my random searches of the internet I found an interesting Disney short about alternatives to the car during the rubber rationing of WWII and who would have thought that the Po-Go stick was the true successor to the car. Here we are 65 years later trying to get hybrids and electric cars when we really should have put are efforts into better Po-Go designs.

New Site 40% Done
So I couldn't wait any longer and I decided to throw up the new semi-complete kingstonbound.com. Its a complete departure from the old look though right now besides the main page there is really nothing else. The link to the old website is still at the bottom though that will go away when I finish the new one. Let me know any feedback on what I can make better.

Loose Lips Sink Ships
Or in this case flash bulbs.
In this article on BBCnews it talks about how current amateur photographers are being caught up in misplaced fears that they could be terrorist. I do understand the concern, but it seems that it is going overboard and current British propaganda is helping to spread this fear. In this day and age cameras are practically everywhere from cellphones to slim point-n-shoots though the article focuses on people with professional looking cameras like a SLR. Now if I'm a terrorist do you think I want to bring attention to myself by wiping out a toaster sized camera? No I use my 3.2 megapixel cellphone to get the shots I need.
Also with current CCTV in Britain it just kind of seems like a mute point to get citizens worked up about these sorts of things. Maybe I'm treating this too lightly and maybe its a legitimate concern since we are in a war on ambiguous terror. Why not just add terror of Amateur Photographers to the list.

Website Overhaul
So when I updated the website near the end of March I thought I had everything taken care of before I headed off this summer. Well since they cleared my computer's account preferences I some how lost the files for the website that I used for the website. Now I didn't lose the pictures or the albums but the actual page files like pictures.html and such. Now I'm sure if I scour my computer for the documents I'll find them and everything will be fine, though I got a new idea for the site. I won't be able to show you any of it just yet (because it will over-write the 'new' site and all the witty picture captions I wrote last summer), but I'm sure it won't be too long before I'm itching to bring it live. It'll be the best of web 1.0, since I have no clue how to use flash. I'm sure you are all shaking with anticipation, 'cause I know I am.

Urinetown (The Musical)
So for those who know me I'm sure I've already told you that I'm involved this semester in marketing the plays/musicals at San Diego State. The musical that I'm the most involved with is Urinetown, which is apparently a well known Broadway show that everyone and their brother has done already in San Diego. Since our main audience is SDSU students I pitched the idea of doing a film trailer for it to show in classes and at pre-screening held on campus. Well the trailers are finally done and though I didn't have any part in filming, acting, or editing these check them out below. The first one has the theme that there is a water shortage and now you have to pay to pee at SDSU. The second shows what happens when you try to pee for free.

's Baggers Restaurant: Nuremberg
So I woke up this morning and did my usual check of the BBC and found an interesting article/video about a new German restaurant that opened in Nuremberg. Apparently there are no waiters and everything is ordered by touch screen and delivered to you via rollercoast like tracks from the kitchen on the second floor. While you wait the touch screens also have access to the internet so you can check your email and such. With how fun this restaurant looks I'll definitely have to make an effort to get up to Nuremberg while I'm over there.

Spring Break Rap-up
So today is the last day of my break before I start the next month of group projects before I graduate in May. The break as a whole was somewhat relaxing since I actually had time to get things done that I have been putting off for sometime. Mainly laundry, which has taken me almost the whole week to do (I apparently have a lot of clothes since I never throw anything out). My roommates and I also went to the Padre-Dodger game on Friday night though it would have been a better experience if the Padres would have won instead of imploding in the seventh with Thatcher took the mound. The game did have one plus. It helped reaffirm my hatred for the Dodgers and their fans. Come on serious! Do you need to dance every time your time turns a routine play?!
My new camera finally arrived on Friday though I haven't had too much time to play around with it yet. My first impression is that the LCD screen seems to be a little blurry for a 7.2 megapixel camera, Hopefully that doesn't transfer over when uploaded onto a computer.
Some quick hit highlights of the week: Trail riding with Charlton, Alex's Saturday BBQ, Laundry, Driving around San Diego because laser tag was closed, Padres losing to the Dodgers, Getting maps of the Balkans, Missing a group meeting for MGT 405, Fixing my computer, My new camera arriving....My spring break in a nut shell.

Random trip update
So yesterday I bought a map of the Balkans region because I figured it would be easier to see the big picture compared to having to constantly scroll on Google Maps. I also picked up a Lonely Planet guide a few weeks again with Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia, and Slovenia in it so I'll probably be reading that to get some ideas on where to go on my cool new map!
In other news I got a new point and shot camera since I broke the screen on my last one (It fell out of my pocket as I was going long for a football pass). It should arrive tomorrow so I'll be sure to write about it here.

Spending my morning at the Apple Store
You would think by the title of this that I'd be enjoying myself though thats not quite the case. My MacBook has had a network issue with Safari and any apps that use Safari to join the internet since last September. This doesn't sound like too big of deal but that means Dashboard, Software Updates, iWeb, iTunes Music Store, iChat and any other 'Apple' program can't connect to the internet if I'm on a wireless network. Though Firefox works fine...go figure.
I finally hit my breaking point and since I'm on spring break I thought I get it taken care of. It's probably some random setting that I accidently checked and I'll look stupid when the Apple Rep flips it, right? WRONG! I've been here for over an hour now and they still haven't fixed it, though they are getting close. It only requires erasing all of my preferences and accounts back to factory settings. So anyway I'm not too happy of camper but hopefully it will finally be fixed and I'll be able to update my website when I go abroad again! I'm crossing my fingers.
