American Airlines Flight 160: The Flight from HELL

So on Wednesday morning I was all set to leave for Europe. The bags were packed and the goodbyes were said. Little did I know that I was about to go on a 48-hour journey into the 7th layer of hell!

Everything began like normal; we even left San Diego on time. Though trouble was brewing. Somewhere over Ohio the captain lets everyone know that there is some weather issues in New York and that we were in a holding pattern. Things still were okay since I had a 2-hour layover, but that changed when the captain said we were running out of fuel and we had a problem with the navigation equipment. We landed in Chicago around the same time I should have been landing in New York. So after spending four hours in Chicago and not being able to get off the plane except for five minute to grab a sandwich we were off again trying to get to New York via Canada air space. It was not to be and we landed in Boston at around 11:30 with no hotel and no flight to New York or London. I was lucky enough to get a flight out of JFK for 8 pm the next day and flight 160 would continue onto New York as well though in the morning. In Boston I met and got to know many of my fellow passengers and actually exchanged email addresses to keep in touch after we all went our separate ways in New York. I made the flight to New York and made on the flight to London though it was over an hour and a half late making me miss my flight to Frankfurt. After I got that moved to a later flight I finally arrived in Frankfurt about two days after I left San Diego. To cap off this whole horrible experience they lost my suitcase that I was suppose to leave in Oxford.

Things are better in Germany though and I will write about them soon, but right now I’m late for a beerfest.

Beep Boop Beep Boop

So I'm down to a little under day left and its starting to feel like an episode of 24 for me. I still have a lot on my plate to finish up before 7 tomorrow morning though. I have to finish up at work, make it to the officer meeting for AMA, start and finish packing, and all the little things in between. Deep breath and go!

In other news I organized paintball for my family and my friends this pass Sunday. It was great getting out there and having the chance to shoot my parents. Though for whatever reason it seemed like I was always on the losing team. Who knew they were pro paintballers? I guess you have to find a hobby once you retire.

One step closer

Okay so yesterday my new laptop came in, though I kind of had to jump through a few hoops to actually get it. FedEx apparently doesn't deliver computers without you signing for them so I had to run to Poway during my lunch break and take the doortag that they left to the distribution center for pick up after six. Just one long extra hassle. I played around with it a little last night though I'll be doing more with it tonight after the Padre game with Diane and Jason.

So other than that nothing extremely exciting has happened within the past few days besides work and packing though there are only 8 days left!
